South African National NGO Week 1997

National NGO Week 1997 is an opportunity for NGOs to come together to 
discuss and debate the challenges facing the sector, and to network with 
other stakeholders in the development arena.

The theme for NGO Week 1997 is "Uniting to Fight against Poverty". It is 
envisaged that the programme of NGO Week 1997 will help to deepen and 
strengthen the extent to which these critical issues are being addressed in 
the programmes of the organisations involved in development.

The programme for NGO Week 1997 includes exciting and thought provoking 
sessions with speakers and panelists drawn from the NGO sector, national 
government, local government, the religious sector and trade unions.

Provincial activities will be held throughout South Africa from 15-18 
September 1997, while the national event will be held from 19-20 September 
1997 in Bloemfontein. The National NGO Assembly will be attended by invited 
delegates only on 21 September 1997 in Bloemfontein.
