RFI: Malaria Prophylaxis in Africa (6)
--------------------------------------
The key advice for malaria prophylaxis is to take the drug for at least
four weeks after leaving the area. The drugs do not prevent infection,
they prevent replication, thus what ever drug you take, you must take
it for at least one parasites life time which is usually less than four
weeks.
Whichever prophylaxis you do take, you should know that none are per-
fect. All have breakthroughs reported so you should carry a curative
dose of an effective anti malarial as well.
Good luck in deciding!
