Seminar on Hospitals and Health Sector Reform
---------------------------------------------

Strengthening Public Hospitals & Health Sector Reform
29 March - 17 April, 1999
Boston, USA

Hospitals are often at the center of health-care reform efforts - they
provide essential services, but are expensive to run. Public hospitals
in particular are often viewed as inefficient, unfriendly to patients,
too expensive and of poor quality. This seminar to be held at Boston
University's School of Public Health will focus on the needs of public
and private not-for-profit hospitals such as those run by Ministries of
Health, para-statal and private voluntary organisations.

In-depth site visits to selected hospitals and ambulatory care provid-
ers in the Boston area will be integrated with classroom teaching and
participants will have the opportunity of being exposed to Boston City
Hospital, a recently privatised public hospital. The seminar/workshop
format is very interactive and ensures effective learning.
