International Congress of Medical Librarianship
-----------------------------------------------

2-5 July, 2000
London

Dear Colleagues,

The 8th International Congress on Medical Librarianship (ICML)(London,
2-5 July 2000) will have a number of scholarships available for indi-
viduals from developing countries. The Scholarship Committee has devel-
oped specific criteria for awarding the grants and a mechanism for sub-
mission of applications. At present, the Committee has approximately 50
scholarships to award and we are expecting an increase in this number.

The criteria for funding include relevance of current professional po-
sition (junior staff are encouraged to apply), financial need, submis-
sion of paper or poster to the conference, individual statement of
value of attending the conference and pertinent letters of recommenda-
tion. The basic award will cover airline fare, dormitory accommodation,
an adequate per diem and conference registration fees.

The deadline for applications will be October 31, 1999 and the scholar-
ships will be awarded no later than November 30, 1999. This will give
the recipients and local arrangements committee ample time to arrange
flights, visas, etc.

The official application is posted on the ICML's website:
http://www.icml.org/

The e-mail application is posted below. Applications will be accepted
by mail, e-mail or via the website. The website also contains informa-
tion on the meeting itself and instructions for submission of papers
and posters.

there is a formatted template available which will ensure you include
all the necessary details. Alternative methods of submission of the 300
word abstracts are via the e-mail, diskette (Word or WordPerfect format)
or print (two typewritten copies). Contributed papers will be presented
at sessions organised by theme, client group or discipline. The themes
