RFI: STD Services for Youths
----------------------------

We are a group of researchers (based at the University of Heidelberg De-
partment of Tropical Medicine and Public Health), currently conducting
a review of existing experiences with different models of STD service
delivery for adolescents in developing countries for GTZ (German Devel-
opment Co-operation). While there exists a relatively large body of
literature on STD education and counselling for youth, there appears to
be much less available on actual services for the diagnosis, treatment
and care of STDs. We are interested in services that are:

* School-based
* Health facility-based
* Based outside of the health and education sectors e.g. in youth cen-
tres and at workplaces

We would very much appreciate contacts with actual organisations world-
wide who are working specifically on promoting STD services for adoles-
cents:

Our specific questions are:

* Does your organisation have specific policies for the promotion of
STD services for youth?

* Which types of STD services have been established/are provided with
your organisation's support? We would appreciate an overview of proj-
ects that promote STD services for adolescents, as described above.

* What is your organisation's experience with the promotion of STD
services for youth? What are/were the challenges, the successes and
limitations of the different service delivery models that your or-
ganisation has been promoting?

* What has the impact of targeted service delivery been?

We'd also be very grateful for any leads others may have on projects /
organisations that work in this area.

We look forward to hearing from you!
