IUSTI STD/HIV World Congress
21st - 24th November, 1999
North-West Province, South Africa
The Sexually Transmitted Diseases & Infectious Diseases Societies of
Southern Africa (STD & IDS SA) together with the International Union
Against Sexually Transmitted Infections are pleased to invite you to
the first ever IUSTI STD/HIV WORLD CONGRESS to be held in Africa.
This congress is also being actively supported by the British Medical
Society for the study of Venereal Diseases (MSSVD) and British HIV
Association (BHIVA), the most prominent British societies in the
fields of STDs and HIV/AIDS.
The International Union Against Sexually Transmitted Infections was
founded in 1923 for international co-operation in the control of
sexually transmitted infections. It is a non-government organisation,
an official consultant with the World Health Organisation and on the
roster of the United Nations Economic and Social Council. The STD &
IDS SA are honoured to be able to combine the 7th Joint Biennial Con-
gress with the IUSTI HIV/STD 6th World Congress and the 38th IUSTI
A comprehensive scientific programme on general infectious diseases
will take place concurrently. We anticipate that this meeting will
provide an opportunity for the sharing of new experiences and re-
search in the prevention of STD/HIV and other infectious diseases by
all health workers in the field.
We look forward to your support and hope to see you at Sun City!
The scientific program will include lectures, symposia, workshops,
poster and oral sessions on all aspects of sexually transmitted dis-
eases, HIV infection, AIDS and other infectious diseases.
A second announcement will be distributed in early 1999 together with
a preliminary programme and call for abstracts.
Abstract deadline: 20th July, 1999.
The official language of the conference will be English. A full and
enjoyable social programme is planned. An exhibition will be held.
