RFI: Methylated Spirits & HIV

Dear Colleagues,

Does anyone know whether methylated spirits are effective against hepa-
titis B and HIV as many people use it for sterilisation? Further is it 
scientifically correct to use methylated spirits for sterilisation - if 
yes, how?
