National Adolescent Sexual Health Initiative (LoveLife)
Programme Manager / Senior Researcher
LoveLife is a collaborative programme of non-governmental organisa-
tions in partnership with the Department of Health, the National
Youth Commission, UNICEF, other governmental agencies and private
sector organisations. The primary goal is to effect positive behav-
iour change among young South Africans to reduce teenage pregnancy,
sexually transmitted diseases and HIV/AIDS. The Reproductive Health
Research Unit is looking for Senior Researcher to coordinate the re-
search arm of this national programme.
The ideal candidate will be a senior researcher with extensive ex-
perience in the area of adolescent reproductive health and signifi-
cant management skills.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the following:
- Setting up, management and coordination of a number of projects;
- Planning and implementing an overall monitoring and evaluation
strategy;
- Data management, analysis, report writing and dissemination.
Essential Job Requirements:
- Masters or higher qualification
- Extensive research experience
- Proven writing skills
- Adolescent health experience
- Computer skills
- Ability to work with minimal supervision
- Management skills
- Drivers licence
Preferred Job Requirements:
- Public health / epidemiology training or experience
Post will be available in January 2000.
