Looking for Authors / Southern Africa

Our colleague Gustav <gustav@madh2.pmb.healthlink.org.za> from South
Africa gave us the following feedback:]

To the authors - A warning to all African Writers and Authors
-------------------------------------------------------------

Dear All,

I am sure you will recall seeing the letters signed by Stephanie
Guillaume. As one of the "authors" referred to in the subject line, I
feel that I have to warn other brothers and sisters not to fall in
the same trap as I did. I wrote a total 7,000 words in 5 articles for
a fee of 400 Euros. When all articles were sent, then I received the
following letter, which says that payment will be done in the coming
week, to that neither Stephanie nor Mr. de Wismes had the decency or
the courage to respond to many letters I wrote to them. Please note
that to write these 7,000 words I went to libraries, phoned, faxed,
did a lot of research for a cost of 250 Euros equivalent hoping that
the fees agreed upon and royalties will be paid, to date nothing. It
is a pity that this is coming from Europe! Heh! You have been warned!

Sincerely,

Gustav

Subject: To the authors

Dear authors,

I am really sorry to have to write this e-mail to you today. At this
time, I have no clue of what the future of the Business Book can look
like. We are currently waiting for another investor to continue in
much better conditions the project. To be really sincere, either
we're closing the doors, or the project takes a much bigger develop-
ment and amplitude.

Then, your payments have been delayed, but I assert you that they
will all be done by the beginning of the following week. I have had
the assurance of that by our finance administrator, that you may con-
tact in case of any other problems if you didn't receive your fees
next week. His name is Olivier de WISMES, and you can write him at
the Parisian address.

His e-mail is <Olivier.de.wismes@business-book.com>

Please do not take me as responsible for all that - I am the edito-
rial responsible, but disgracefully not the finance director. I've
been trying my best to get things better, but in vain.

Be assured of my joy to have worked with you, and I would just have
hoped that things have been different,

Sincerely,

Stephanie GUILLAUME
