Abt Associates Announces New Health Policy Training Institute
-------------------------------------------------------------
First course to be held Winter 2000 in Washington, DC, USA
Abt Associates is pleased to announce the opening of the Abt Associates
Health Policy Training Institute (AAHPTI). The AAHPTI is designed to
put critical tools for health reform into the hands of developing coun-
try technical leaders. The Institute's course offerings represent a
comprehensive package of the major skills and tools required for suc-
cessful conception, implementation, and evaluation of reform. Trainers
include Abt Associates staff and affiliated faculty, all of whom have
extensive field experience in implementing health reforms. AAHPTI of-
fers more than just training courses - participants will have the op-
portunity to build long-term relationships with faculty, receive peri-
odic technical updates, and participate in ongoing forums.
AAHPTI offers its inaugural three-week training program in the Washing-
ton, DC area in Winter 2000. This course targets the needs of mid- to
senior-level technical managers involved in reform management in coun-
tries undergoing social sector restructuring. The three modules offered
focus on some of the most important issues in health sector reform sup-
porting the theme "Tools for Health Reform - A Suite of Practical
Courses To Support Implementers of Reform".
The modules are:
1) Application of Costing Tools to Health Reform;
2) Resource Planning Tools and Methods and
3) Technical Management of Reform.
Participants may select 2 of 3 modules, with the Costing Tools Module
strongly recommended for all. These modules give participants a core
set of skills for implementing health reform in their countries.
The course is scheduled for November 27 - December 15, 2000. For more
