Interactive Knowledge Site - Fathom
An international consortium of educational institutions, libraries and
museums is launching an "interactive knowledge site" called Fathom:
On 3 April, the British Library <http://www.bl.uk>, Cambridge Univer-
sity Press <http://www.cambridge.org>, Columbia University
<http://www.columbia.edu>, the London School of Economics and Political
Science <http://www.lse.ac.uk>, the New York Public Library
<http://www.nypl.org>, and The Smithsonian Institution's National Mu-
seum of Natural History <http://www.mnh.si.edu/>, announced that they
would pool their resources to "present the best public content and
courses of universities, libraries, and museums on a wide variety of
professional, cultural, and academic subjects."
The fledgling site will allow visitors to search the content and
courses of the participating members, to interact with faculty and cu-
rators through interviews, articles, lectures and discussion forums,
and to learn through courses, CD-ROMs and textbooks.
For more information, visit the site or
