Humanity Development Library CD-ROM
-----------------------------------
The Humanity Development Library 2.0 for Sustainable Development and
Basic Human Needs contains the equivalent of 160.000 pages / 340 kg /
20.000 US$ worth of useful books and newsletters on this single CD-ROM
of 25 grams. It is compatible with Windows 3.x, Windows 95, 98 and on
most NT systems.
We also have a World Environmental Library 1.0
Food and Nutrition Library 1.0
and Medical and Health Library 1.0
each containing about 35.000 to 45.000 pages.
Ordering costs for developing countries: from 3 to 13 US$ per CD-ROM.
This project is like a low cost vaccination against lack of knowledge
similar to a polio vaccination. We want to set the example and prove
that in order to solve poverty all essential information should be made
available free or at lowest cost. It is hoped a few NGO in each country
can redistribute many CD-ROM's as to reach as many NGO's, schools and
development workers with a PC as possible.
For small quantities for developing countries the price is 6 to 13 US$
per CD-ROM + delivery costs. But for wider non-profit redistribution of
at least 300 CD-ROM's or more, the costs are about 3 US$ per CD-ROM +
about 0.5 US$ to 1 US$ delivery costs per CD-ROM.
Any combination of CD-ROMs can be delivered in a package. We try to do-
nate (and do so) many CD-ROMs, but as this has limits we welcome or-
ganizations like yours to help us cover the costs and donate them if
possible.
Once this material is available, NGO, university faculties and Minis-
tries of Education in each country should organize free redistribution
via CD-ROMs; floppy discs and ultimately the Internet in each country.
A kind of "Marshall" information and translation plan to get most use-
ful UN and NGO material available. We welcome such local actors to copy
our concept, and we will share our know-how and software with non-
profit partnerships.
You should also contact some fellow NGO, international NGO and UN agen-
cies with your request to have these CD-ROMs diffused free or at local
currency to all NGO, schools and development workers in your country.
If you go to UNDP or Western (e.g. Dutch, German or Scandinavian) de-
velopment representatives, the World Bank, embassies and insist and
demonstrate you need this library, they might agree to help and to or-
der and distribute 300 to 1000 in your country. This is very important
to create a critical mass and local networks.
Please fill in/fax following form and e-mail or fax it to us.
Thanking you,
