University of Oxford - Kenya Collaborative Research Programme
Research Demographer
A system of continuous demographic surveillance is currently under
development as part of the KEMRI-Wellcome Trust-Oxford University
collaborative research programme at the Centre for Geographic Medi-
cine Research Coast, Kenya. Based on the HRS2 model, the system will
be a key component in a number of major new research initiatives. We
are looking for an experienced demographer to improve and maintain
this system while at the same time developing an independent research
agenda: the current major focus is on infectious diseases (particu-
larly malaria), disability and the causes of mortality in young chil-
dren. Prospective candidates should hold a PhD in Demography or an
allied discipline. He/she should have a track record in research de-
mography, preferably in a tropical environment.
This full time appointment will be on the RS II scale (Salary range
GBP 23,256 - GBP 30,967 with a maximum starting salary of GBP 27,222)
and is funded by the Wellcome Trust.
