You may want to contact the British Medical Research Council labora-
tories in the Gambia. They have been established and doing work on 
tropical diseases in the country since around 1948. They do not have 
a website but the details below may help you to contact them.

Staff at the MRC Laboratory currently run eight programmes of re-
search relevant to the health of developing societies. These span 
HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis, malaria, reproductive health, viral diseases, 
respiratory infections and non-communicable diseases. In addition, 
the laboratory co-ordinates a number of clinical trials, behavioural 
intervention programmes and maintains important cohorts.
