RFI: Treatment of Multi-Drug-Resistant TB in pregnancy
------------------------------------------------------
I have currently a 30 years old lady who is 7 months pregnant and is
resistant to all first line anti-TB drugs except Ethambutol. She has
already taken both cat. 1 and cat. 2 regimen but continue to have 3
plus AFBs in her sputum. Has anybody got the experience of treating
MDR TB in pregnancy? Any help will be greatly appreciated. This un-
fortunate lady has 3 children under the age of 8 and 4th is on the
way. Please help to save the life of this mother. Which 2nd line or
3rd line anti-TB drugs are safe in pregnancy?
Thank you,
Dr. Javaid A Khan, FRCP (Edin)
