Calculating condom failure rates
--------------------------------

This is very interesting, based upon the formula provided, can you
better explain what exactly is contributing to the yearly decline in
the success rates? You did not indicate that prevalence is increas-
ing, so if it is stable at 35% (as an example) then why is the fail-
ure rate of condom usage increasing? And if the prevalence rate is
fluctuating, as prevalence rates of any disease states do, then why
does the formula assume that even with proper usage of a condom that
prevalence of HIV/AID would be on the up swing, or that even with
proper usage, condoms are more likely to fail then be helpful? These
facts escape my understanding?? Please explain.

Thanks,
