RFI: Looking for applied research and benchmarking information
--------------------------------------------------------------

I work for a Texas state agency whose clients suffer from a wide
range of physical, emotional, and psychological disabilities. Our
mission is to help those clients to become employable and self-
sufficient to the greatest extent possible. Unfortunately, our voca-
tional rehabilitation counsellors (VRCs) are so absorbed by day-to-
day tasks that it is hard to keep up with research in their own field
that could be of benefit to their clients.

So, we are interested in knowing which organizations (in any field -
not necessarily VR) do the best job of overcoming the various opera-
tional obstacles to reviewing and applying new knowledge, so we can
learn how they do it. Perhaps there are applied research think tanks
or other companies that take theories and research from journals and
transform them to practical information. If you know of such organi-
zations (especially in the U.S.) we would appreciate knowing who they
are, as well as indicating the right people in those organizations to
approach with our request (names, positions, addresses, phone num-
bers, e-mail addresses, etc.).

If the specifics of best-practice in scanning and applying research
are already set out in the literature of the benchmarking field,
please let us know where they appear so we can study those sources
too.

Let me thank you in advance for any help you can provide.
