Msc (Epidemiology And Bio stats) - Wits University
--------------------------------------------------

Applications are invited for students who would like to be considered
for a place in January 2002 for the MSc (Med) in the field of Epide-
miology and Bio statistics.

This course is available for applicants with a good pass in a health
related 4-year degree. This includes doctors, dentists, veterinary
practitioners, physical therapists, nurses, environmental health of-
ficers, social scientists and natural scientists.

The MSc is designed to help students to become expert researchers in
epidemiology (especially tropical diseases epidemiology and/or clini-
cal epidemiology). Therefore, applicants who are involved in epidemi-
ological research will be favoured, although others are not excluded.
It is offered full-time over 1 year or part-time over 3 years. Part-
time students are required to attend six 1-week blocks each year, and
these blocks are spread out with 4-8 weeks between each. Both the
full-time and part-time courses next begin on Monday 14th January
2002.

The MSc is a taught course, made up of 18 1-week modular blocks and a
research report. Wits University also offers an MPH degree, either
full-time over 2 years or part-time over 4 years. If you would like
to apply for either the MSc or the MPH, please write to Patricia at
mailto:160mony@chiron.wits.ac.za and ask for a set of application
forms. Be sure to give Patricia details of your name, which course
you would like to apply for, and also your postal address.

Applications for 2002 close on September 30 2001.
