15. Guns, Germs and Steel
http://www.comminit.com/Materials/sld-2408.html
Warren's independent recommendation: Guns, Germs and Steel is a fas-
cinating book that attempts to answer why some countries are wealth-
ier than others. Author goes back to beginning of human habitation
and draws from a vast range of disciplines and cultural contexts. The
book's thesis has significant implications for international develop-
ment strategies and investment. Not too sure I agree with everything
in the book, but certainly challenging and thought provoking. If you
purchase and read [or have read already] please let me know what you
think of this book and it's argument and evidence.
17. Breaking the Earthenware Jar
http://www.comminit.com/Materials/sld-2371.html
18. The Innovator's Dilemma
http://www.comminit.com/Materials/sld-2372.html
Another Warren recommendation: This book has nothing to do with in-
ternational development! But the implications for how we manage and
harness the new technologies resulting from the author's thesis, evi-
dence and argument are significant. In some cases there may be sur-
vival implications for some of the leading contemporary development
organisations. If you read it - or have read it - please let me know
what you think.
