Ministry of Health Calls for Abstracts (deadline 1.10.01) First Na-
tional Congress on Quality Improvement in Health Care, Medical Re-
search and Traditional Medicine

The Ministry of Health will host the first National Congress on Qual-
ity in Health Care, Medical Research and Traditional Medicine from
19th to 23rd November this year at the Kenya College of Communica-
tions Technology in Nairobi. The Congress whose theme is Quality
Health Care to all Kenyans will bring together key stakeholders in
the health sector to discuss mechanisms for systematic monitoring of
quality improvement in health care, National priority medical re-
search, and strategies for integration of traditional medicine with
conventional medicine and health sector position paper for Constitu-
tion of Kenya Review Commission. The Congress will also discuss in-
ter-sectoral collaboration and partnership for better health.

Some of the Papers will discuss:
-Monitoring and evaluation of Quality Improvement in Health Care
- Medical Research Priorities in Kenya
- Culture, Health and Religion
- How to integrate traditional medicine with conventional medicine
- Critical analysis of Kenya Poverty Reduction Paper Implementation

- Bridging the gap between medical research, policy and practice
- Review and harmonization of health and related laws of Kenya
- Perspectives and dilemmas of a health care consumer associated with
exposure to both traditional and conventional health care

Package Guidelines
- Health and Ethics
- Strategies to make new global initiatives to fight infectious dis-
ease effective at community level
- Making Politics work for better health.
