I want to join Johanne in her sentiments. Dress is not related to "sexual
availability." And sexual violence is not about "sex", but about power. Older
women, women in veils, young girls who are completely covered may all be vic-
tims of sexual violence. It has nothing to do with appearance; skirt length is
not the answer. In Israel in the 1950's there was a rapist preying on women af-
ter dark in Tel Aviv. A male cabinet member suggested having a curfew for all
women (for their protection, of course): from sunset to sunrise all females
would have to be in their homes. Golda Meir "radically" suggested instead a cur-
few for men (similar hours) as they were the ones perpetrating the violence!

Johanne's lock could also be useful...
