From the moderator:

The main purpose of this discussion group is to exchange informa-
tion between the different networks, institutions and members ac-
tive in Health Research in Africa. It has a diverse number of
topics for discussion within the context of facilitating and en-
hancing better collaboration in capacity building, planning and
conducting research and translating it into action.

The range of topics include:
Advocacy for health research and development
Priority setting
Capacity building
Evaluation
Dissemination of results
Utilisation of research findings
Networking

With such a diverse number of topics and in particular with the
cross cutting issue of HIV/AIDS it is therefore not unusual for a
topic such as "A ban on mini skirts" to have deeper implications
for the response to HIV/AIDS
