Zimbabwe Traditional Medical and Cultural EXPO

Dear Colleagues,

I have come across information on the Zimbabwean Traditional Medical 
and Cultural EXPO 2001.

Some of the objectives of the EXPO which I copied on the website are:

* Maintain regional relationship with the African Healers Association 
  and other relevant organisations globe-wise related to research on 
  traditional medicine and healthcare through cultural heritage in the 
  world. 
* Set the exhibition as a platform for awareness of diseases and 
  their traditional methods of control such as malaria, sexually trans-
  mitted diseases, cholera and other in various diseases. 
* Uphold and maintain traditional medicines as a competitive alterna-
  tive to health and health care delivery system in the world through 
  exhibition. 
* To promote indigenous knowledge systems invested in various cul-
  tural forums that are linked to medicinal practices such as sculp-
  tors, curios, traditional dressing, literature and traditional music.
* To de-campaign the bad image and publicity imposed on traditional 
  herbs, sculptors, curios and literature etc. 
* To promote the conversation of medicinal plants and animals by 
  building an awareness of such endangered species to the people. 
* Investigate and motivate research that contributes to indigenous 
  scientific knowledge system thus correcting the dominant official 
  scientific view. 
* To shade light to the relationship between traditional medicine and 
  modern medicine.
