The United Nations Children's Fund, head-quartered in New York, works
in 162 countries, areas and territories on solutions to the problems
afflicting children, and on ways to realise their rights to ensure
their survival, protection and development.

If you are a passionate and committed health professional and want to
make a lasting difference for children, the world's leading chil-
dren's rights organization would like to hear from you.

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a dedicated team work-
ing in collaboration with governments, NGOs, communities, children
and young people to devise and implement innovative strategies to im-
prove the health and nutrition of children and women in developing
countries. The positions we are filling range from junior to senior
levels (e.g. Nutrition and Health Officers, Health Supply Advisers,
Health Financing Adviser, Team Leader - Child and Maternal Survival,
Regional/Country Health and Nutrition Advisers, Senior Adviser-
Health Programme Management). Depending on the position, the incum-
bent will be stationed in either UNICEF's New York Headquarters, Re-
gional or Country Offices. Travel within and between countries
should be expected.

You are an excellent communicator (both verbally and in writing) and
have a strong record of building effective partnerships and relations
with governments and organizations, at the international, national
and community levels with governments and organizations, at the
international, national and community levels. You are known for your
drive and ability to get things done, whatever the circumstances.
You are committed to identifying what works in advancing the health
and nutrition of children through evaluation. You are a creative
thinker with exceptional influencing skills and have professional ex-
perience in a number of crucial areas of UNICEF's work, including:
immunization, maternal and child survival programmes (nutrition, ma-
laria control, Integrated Management of Childhood Illnesses) and
HIV/AIDS.

Your Profile

-Advanced university degree or extensive equivalent experience in
medicine, nutrition, public health or related technical field; or
background in social sciences with sound experience in a health
related field. For Health Supply positions, advanced university
degree in business administration or extensive background in com-
mercial negotiations and international logistics.

-Depending on the level of the position, two to ten or more years
of professional work experience in developing, implementing, man-
aging and evaluating field programmes in developing countries re-
lated to health and community development.
-Experience in policy development, advocacy and social mobilisation
related to health issues.
-Experience in programme and budget management.
-Excellent interpersonal skills.
-Proven ability to negotiate and build consensus with governments
and civil society.
-Ability to work effectively in an international and multicultural
environment.
-Fluency in English and another UN working language (Arabic, Chi-
nese, French, Russian, or Spanish). Knowledge of Portuguese an
asset.
