Seminar on Contraceptive Security
---------------------------------

4 December 2001
Washington DC, USA

On December 4, 2001, DELIVER and Commercial Market Strategies (CMS)
will co-host a half-day seminar: "Segmenting Markets to Maximize Con-
traceptive Security." For developing countries, market segmentation
may offer one way to help fulfill future demand for contraceptives.
Knowledgeable panelists will discuss this exciting possibility. The
event will be held at the National Press Club in Washington, DC, from
12:30 to 4:30 p.m. A reception will follow. For more detailed infor-
mation about the topic, go to:

DELIVER, a project sponsored by the U. S. Agency for International
Development (USAID), strengthens the supply chains of health and fam-
ily planning programs in developing countries to ensure the avail-
ability of critical health products for customers. In implementing
DELIVER, John Snow, Inc., (JSI), the prime contractor, is building
upon the accomplishments of USAID's Family Planning Logistics Manage-
ment (FPLM) projects I, II, and III. Administered by JSI from 1986 to
2000, FPLM helped establish and maintain improved logistics systems
in more than 30 countries. DELIVER's motto "No Product? No Program"
is a reminder that without a full supply of products, health programs
cannot operate.

The Commercial Market Strategies (CMS) project is a five-year USAID-
funded project from the Office of Population Health and Nutrition.
The goal of CMS is to motivate the private and commercial sector in
developing countries to increase access and demand for quality repro-
ductive health and family planning products and services. As various
donor-funded population programs are shrinking their budgets and
closing their offices, the work of CMS is critical in maintaining
contraceptive security in the neediest parts of the world.
