Herbal Remedies Used for Treatment of HIV Related Disease

Dear colleagues,

referring to Kaiser Daily HIV/AIDS Report - Tue, 4 Dec 2001:
"Verifying Herbal Remedies' Success"...

Just a short note to express interest in the South African initiative 
on herbal remedies. Our institute Blair Research (www.blair.co.zw) 
has been involved since 1993 in traditional herbal remedies research 
for management of HIV related disease. Some remedies show success in 
boosting functional immunity (CD4 cells) and promoting mental well-
being of HIV/AIDS patients.

For those interested, I can send you the publications and protocols 
we use.

As this is a very challenging area, the key to success is to set up a 
multi-institutional network to address the many faceted aspects of 
this problem. In Zimbabwe we are establishing a Herbal Research and 
Development Centre that incorporates several scientific and medical 
institutions in the country in conjunction with the Zimbabwe National 
Traditional Healers Association.
