RFI: Groin hernia repairs - Cost effectiveness analysis
-------------------------------------------------------

Dear Colleagues

I would like to compile literature on cost effectiveness analysis of
day care versus in-patient re- pair of groin hernia in Africa. Does
anyone know the prevalence or incidence of groin hernia in Africa?
I would be grateful if you can submit what ever is relevant on the
subject.

My primary search on Medline indicated cost effectiveness analysis
study done in affluent setting in the Developed countries. Most of
them were comparison of costs of laparascopic repairs & endo-
scopic repairs versus Bassinis or modified Bassinis repairs. My ma-
jor interest is in any repair procedure other than laparascopic or
endoscopic repairs. The strategy still remains day care versus
inpatient care. I would be interested in studies conducted in de-
veloping countries. Preferably in African rural settings. I would
be grateful to have some randomised trials on this subject as
well.

Thank you.

Regards

Dr. Opar Bernard Toliva.
