Dear friends,

To clarify an earlier request regarding Medical libraries' mandate, 
here's an example:

The AIDS Consortium Resource Centre was established in 1992 under the 
auspices of the Centre for Applied Legal Studies (Wits University). 
The resource centre continues to be recognised as one of the most 
comprehensive sources of HIV/AIDS materials and resources in Southern 
Africa.

Most queries that come to the Consortium are referred to Resource 
Centre staff and in the course of 2000 it became clear that the needs 
of community-based organisations go beyond information and materials 
provision.

Common requests are for:

* information on funding sources
* assistance in compiling proposals, constitutions and other organ-
  isational documentation and
* referral to specialised services such as home-based care, orphan-
  ages, legal advice etc.

Adhoc training workshops are arranged e.g. Home-based care, MTCT etc.
