Adverse effects of mefloquine: due to primary liver damage?
-----------------------------------------------------------
Source: E-Drug <e-drug@usa.healthnet.org>
Ashley Croft and I have just published a paper in BiomedCentral Pub-
lic Health (a freely accessible electronic journal), in which we sug-
gest the hypothesis that many of the adverse effects of mefloquine
are due to modest liver damage, possibly with secondary thyroid in-
volvement. The hypothesis needs testing, and meanwhile it seems ad-
visable to revise the contra-indications and warnings for the use of
mefloquine.
