European Malaria Vaccine Initiative - Call for Letters of Interest

Deadline for Letters of Interest: 10 May 2002

EMVI's general mandate is to provide a mechanism through which the 
development of experimental malaria vaccines can be accelerated 
within Europe and in Developing Countries.

More specifically, EMVI shall facilitate and contribute to the post 
validation phase of nationally and internationally funded malaria 
vaccine research and development, and shall provide a mechanism to 
see candidate molecules through to limited GMP production and clini-
cal trials.

EMVI will shortly be launching a call for proposals. EMVI's Board has 
decided to launch targeted or strategic calls in order to complement 
national and international investigator initiated proposals. This de-
cision was positively commented on by an external review panel.

In order to best serve the malaria vaccine research community, Euro-
pean and Developing Country research groups are hereby invited to 
submit a short Letter of Interest stating the areas of malaria vac-
cine research and development that it is felt EMVI should prioritize 
within its given mandate as stated above.
