RFI: Immunological Studies of Mycobacterium Tuberculosis
--------------------------------------------------------

Readers,

Am undertaking a PhD project where am evaluating biological markers
for clinical outcome in TB. I think I will need to study the immu-
nological and cellular mechanisms in the host as TB susceptibility is
genetically related.

I need suggestions on what cytokines or immunological products I can
analyse as markers of host response and in what sample, may be pe-
ripheral blood, cells etc. Will appreciate references on this.

I am also looking for information on RT-PCR technique, as concerns
isolating messenger RNA in sputum of TB patients. How should be the
specimen treated, any technical issues to observe?

Thank you,
