Professor Daniel Barth-Jones, from Wayne State University will be
visiting the School of Health Systems and Public Health at the Uni-
versity of Pretoria later this year. While in Pretoria he will de-
liver a 1 week course on infectious disease modelling between 2-6
September. Delegates will be introduced to the fundamental concepts,
principles and theories that are used to develop models of infectious
diseases in human populations, and there will be a specific focus on
the application of these methods to the design and evaluation of vac-
cination programmes.

and a brochure attachment will be sent to you electronically. It is
recommended that applicants should have a moderately good pre-
existing knowledge of public health, statistics and epidemiology.
When replying please state your affiliation, country of residence,
position held, and, if applicable, whether you are currently enrolled
for any post-graduate degree course. Participation is limited to 30:
places will be allocated on a 1st come 1st served basis, so an early
response is advisable.
