Appeal for HIV/AIDS electronic/printed information material
-----------------------------------------------------------

Dear all,

The International Association of Physicians in AIDS Care-Southern Af-
rican Regional Office (IAPAC-SARO) is appealing for contributions of
printed or electronic HIV/AIDS materials from individuals and insti-
tutions for its resource centre. IAPAC-SARO is a non-governmental or-
ganisation based in Johannesburg, South Africa. The resource centre
was established as a support base for IAPAC members, health care
workers, researchers and people affected by HIV/AIDS. We are appeal-
ing for material on HIV/AIDS best practices, guidelines, policies and
legislations, treatment, care and support materials; and research
work done specifically in Southern Africa.

IAPAC-SARO has been training health care workers in Southern Africa
in the treatment, care and support of HIV/AIDS primarily through
training workshops of the Diflucan Partnership Program (DPP) and I-
Med Exchange Program. DPP training is done in accordance with Na-
tional Department of Health HIV/AIDS guidelines. The I-Med Exchange
program, an Internet based health information and distance learning
system, brings access to HIV/AIDS information to various sites in
five Southern African countries. The increased knowledge and aware-
ness of HIV/AIDS gained by these initiatives have proven effective in
empowering health care workers to improve and increase care of people
living with HIV/AIDS. IAPAC-SARO believes that training and informa-
tion is key to battling the HIV/AIDS epidemic.

However, as a Non-Governmental Organisation, IAPAC-SARO depends
largely on sponsorship and contributions by persons or institutions
willing to donate electronic and printed materials. Therefore we ap-
peal to you and your institution to participate and help us build and
strengthen the activities of the resource centre in our effort to
fight against the epidemic and empower health care workers to improve
the care and support of people living with HIV/AIDS.

Thank you for considering this request. I hope to hear from you soon.

Yours sincererly,

Shirley Kabwato
