Dear Lucinda,

You may be interested in the Healthlink Worldwide, 'Resource centre
manual: how to set up and manage a resource centre', which is avail-
able on the web at:
http://www.healthlink.org.uk/rcman/rchome.html

This was produced in 2000 and is comprehensive and practical, cover-
ing all areas from planning, needs assessment, furniture and equip-
ment, developing and organising the collection - including developing
a classification scheme, computers and databases, information ser-
vices, promotion, and monitoring and evaluation. There is also a fur-
ther reading section referencing a number of useful materials. (An
update of the manual is due next year).

Healthlink Worldwide have also developed their own classification
scheme and keywords list - used to organise the Source information
centre (http://www.asksource.info). These cover health and disability
issues from the perspective of developing country experience and have
been adapted by a number of partner organisations and others. I can
send you a copy of these by email.

Regards,

Victoria Richardson
