The future:
Global Prevention day:
The world cannot seem to work together, we in prevention can
Hippocrates: Life is so short, the craft is so long to learn
Hippocrates was discussing about medicine, but exactly the same thing
can be said about Prevention. Our Supercourse helps to learn our
craft by sharing our lectures among the teachers of the world. This
benefits all of us.
We received excellent ideas and interest for the development of a
global prevention day. We wanted to start the second round of discus-
sions for your input.
It is clear that we were trying to do way too much. We need to sim-
plify GPD for it to be successful. Based upon all the input we are
considering developing a global prevention day as follows:
Shortly after Hippocrates birthday (Sept. 9), we will identify a
week, for a global prevention celebration.
Hippocrates: Walking is man's best medicine
Participation is simple: We will create a state of the art PowerPoint
global prevention lecture which will be distributed to our faculty of
9250. The first level of participation would be to distribute this
file to faculty and students in one's university or country. We thus
snowball the lecture around our countries.
A second level of participation would be for our Supercourse Faculty
to give a seminar on prevention during prevention week at their uni-
versities/centers.
The third level would be for the Supercourse Faculty to distribute
CDs to students and faculty at their universities/centers.
One of the strengths of the Supercourse is the distribution of lec-
tures. If we can get one outstanding lecture on global prevention
distributed world wide with a concerted effort, we have achieved a
major purpose, making prevention accessible to the world. We also
have created a wonderful new model of prevention.
Hippocrates: You will find as a general rule that constitutions and
habits of people follow the nature of the land they live
We would love to hear your opinion about this. Also, we need to de-
termine how much interest there is. We think if we can get a center
in 20 countries it probably is worth putting the time in to establish
this. Please send comments to <ronlaporte@aol.com>
It is time the world comes together over prevention.
Hippocrates: There are in fact two things, science and opinion; the
former begets knowledge, the later ignorance.
