Anti-condom Campaign Threatens Public Health (3)
------------------------------------------------
Campaigns/Strategies cannot be isolated
Hello Edmund and All,
Let me pick up from you when you wrote about: "...the degree of un-
derstanding on how to use the condoms..."
Well, do you believe, as an adult, that there needs to be a similar
degree of self consciousness, understanding and purpose in abstain-
ing? Reflect on when you were a teenager and your body was calling.
Were your feelings fully bolded?
My point is that we should not segregate the proven strategies in
educating our people (urban/rural) about HIV/AIDS. We should always
remember that WE as experts are fully engaged in the academics of
this pandemic therefore it is easy to forget that the people we serve
do not internalize the issues in ways we do.
I understand you all realise this, but I wonder why we continue to be
divided. I work with youth from all walks of life and I am always re-
minded that they are willing to learn and practise what we teach but
being young and inquisitive, they also want to experiment or simply
have a back up "alternative strategy".
I thank you for your opinions, they continue to nourish my knowledge.
