SHARing point - New one-stop health information system
------------------------------------------------------
SHARing health information from around the globe! Find people and
their activities like projects, journal articles, abstracts and mail-
ing list postings from Asia, Africa, Europe, North and South America.
We are happy to announce a new site to exchange information in the
SHARED Network (Scientists for Health and Research for Development):
the SHARing point server that you can find at:
http://sharingpoint.shared-global.org
This application was launched during the CRICS 6 meeting in Puebla,
Mexico last week and is a product based on Collexis® Fingerprint
technology: The content of a text is represented by a Fingerprint, a
small and unique representation of the text. Collexis® technology
uses a thesaurus to find keywords in text from the source documents
or in a query text. It exploits the synonyms to recognize the key-
words in the text and to estimate the relevance of the keywords for
denoting that text. A series of keywords with their relative weights
together representing a text are referred to as a conceptual Finger-
print.
The site is working in multi-language environment. It has been
started with English, French and Spanish. Portuguese will be added
soon and new languages will be added as new developments occur in the
Network.
In the three verticals of the SHARing point server you find different
data sources. A search is performed by default in the SHARED Network
pillar, but as soon as you get the results, you can look up the re-
sults also for the other two pillars (Online Journals, Medline 96 to
02). You even see directly how many results you can expect there.
Especially in the SHARED pillar, different types of information are
considered reaching from project description and publications to ab-
stracts and mailing list postings - indicated with a small icon.
These documents are written in English, Spanish or French and you may
query them in all of these languages.
The great news for AFRO-NETS is that more than 7,000 postings from
the AFRO-NETS archive might be included in your search.
Enjoy to new tool.
Best regards,
