Lecture Count: 
 
Eugene Reports that the Supercourse now has 1360 lectures. Isn't that 
amazing? We must put this in context as one will sit though 400 lec-
tures in order to develop an MPH degree. The Supercourse is being 
used in many different ways. Please send us some comments about how 
you have used it so we can feed this back to everyone.
 
Golden Lecture: 
 
The golden lecture effort is taking off. It appears that the golden 
lecture will be translated into Arabic, Chinese, English, Hebrew, 
Hindi, Hungarian, Indonesian, Japanese, Korean, Marathi, Portuguese, 
Russian, and Spanish. If you are interested in translating this into 
your language, or helping to translate, please let us know. By next 
week we plan to put most of these translations up on the web, as well 
as to have a PowerPoint file available for distribution in each lan-
guage.
 
Please start to think about how we can maximize the number of eyes 
that see the golden lectures. We are approaching the school districts 
in the United States as well as the Ministries of Health, the WHO 
Collaborating Centre Directors. Any ideas as to who else we can reach 
would be very important.
 
We will be sending to you a press release so that you can report 
about the golden lecture in your local press and local TV stations. 
We are trying to have links on the press and TV to our site, to maxi-
mize the eyes watching the golden lecture. Within the next few weeks 
we plan to send out a version of the golden lecture which you can 
distribute. We will send 3 different copies of the golden version, 
one at about June 15, then next at Aug. 15, and the final on Sept. 1, 
and we ask you to distribute these to your friends and relatives. If 
we send out 10,000 lecture files to you on Aug. 15 and you all read 
them, and send it to a friend, the on Aug. 16, there would be 20,000 
people who have learned from the supercourse, on Aug. 17, 40,000, and 
Aug 18, 80,000. By Aug. 30, we will reach 651,138,000 million people 
with the golden lecture. At about 10 AM on Sept. 3, 2003, all 
6,200,000,000 of us in the world will have learned from the Super-
course. Now that is having an impact!!! Look around you as you walk 
down the street. Everyone on Sept. 3, will be whispering "super-
course", and we will have done it!! It will be great fun.
 
We will be putting all versions onto our server in addition the files 
that will be sent to each one of you for wide spread (you might even 
call it "wild spread") distribution.
 
SARS JIT lecture:
 
The SARS JIT lecture is the hit of the summer. Many people are coming 
into the site to learn about SARS. Rashid Chotani will have a nice 
publication in the Lancet on June 7 on SARS and Just-in-Time learn-
ing, please look out for it.
 
Fifty years ago, Mt. Everest was climbed for the first time. On this 
date in 2053, will the world be saying that at the turn of the cen-
tury, the first global lecture took off? Is the golden lecture, one 
small step for man (and women) and one gigantic leap for prevention? 
We think so!!

P.S. on Sept 19 we will have reached 327,680,000,000 people based 
upon our doubling rate. Obviously we cannot find them all on earth, 
therefore we are about to embark on the Starship Supercourse, to move 
the globalization of the supercourse to outer space.
