U.N. Wire launches improvements
-------------------------------

Dear AFRO-NETS subscribers:

We are very pleased to announce significant improvements in the con-
tent and look of U.N. Wire unveiled today. We would very much like
to enlist your help in spreading the word about these changes and
about the usefulness of our news service.

Here is a quick summary of the improvements we have initiated: The
daily e-mail alert has now become a fully developed newsletter. It
includes quick summaries of the day's top stories, and links to other
stories in the daily report housed at http://www.unwire.org. So now
it is suitable for printing out for reading at a later time or for
forwarding to colleagues who may be interested in its content. U.N.
Wire's home page, http://www.unwire.org, has been reformatted to im-
prove typography, display and ease of use. We've modelled it on the
web pages of other prominent media organizations such as the BBC and
The New York Times. It's easier now to e-mail individual stories to
interested colleagues. We are delighted to announce that Barbara
Crossette will now be writing her U.N. Notebook column every week. As
many of you know, Barbara is a deeply experienced foreign correspon-
dent who served as The New York Times U.N. bureau chief for seven
years.

More improvements will be coming throughout the summer. People can
sign up for our free news service at http://www.unwire.org/subscribe.

Thank you and best regards,

Timothy B. Clark
