Dear Friends,
The marriage of Hippocrates and Hygeia is quickly approaching and the
excitement is building up. We still have 3 months to reach the world
and we cannot waste them. Please come view the golden lecture
http://www.pitt.edu/~super1/lecture/
The lecture has been seen by educators in 61 countries of the world.
How do we reach the other 140 countries? That is the question. We are
thinking that instead of reaching 1 million people, we should concen-
trate on reaching every single country of the world.
We have 71 countries with which we especially need help in reaching
people interested in prevention, as we have no one (or very few) on
our list from these countries. If you know anyone in these countries,
we would very much appreciate if you could "read and forward" this
letter to them as we very much want the golden lecture to teach in
every country of the world.
The countries that we need help identifying people are:
Afghanistan, Albania, Angola, Bahamas, Bahrain, Bangladesh, Belarus,
Belgium, Bhutan, Bolivia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Botswana, Burkina
Faso, Cambodia, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cote d?Ivoire, Croatia,
Cyprus, Czech Republic, Ecuador, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Fiji, Finland,
Gabon, Ghana, Greece, Guatemala, Guyana, Haiti, Honduras, Hungary,
Iceland, Indonesia, Jordan, Kuwait, Laos, Lebanon, Libya, Macedonia,
Madagascar, Malawi, Mali, Morocco, Mozambique, Namibia, New Zealand,
Nicaragua, Niger, Nigeria, Panama, Paraguay, Poland, Samoa, Senegal,
Seychelles, Singapore, Slovakia, South Africa Syria, Togo, Tonga,
Trinidad and Tobago, Tunisia, Uganda, Uruguay, Venezuela, Vietnam,
Yugoslavia, Zambia
Please, please, please contact people in the countries who are not
represented in the Supercourse to have them view the golden lecture,
as well as to join our group.
As we presented to you several weeks ago, we recently had a paper
published in the Lancet demonstrating a Just-In-Time lecture for SARS
(http://www.pitt.edu/~super1/). The concept of just in time is very
simple: A JIT lecture is one that is developed by experts such as our
network which is developed immediately after a potential global
health event; then it is continuously updated for the classrooms of
the world. Our good friend Rashid Chotani has subsequently built a
second JIT lecture on Monkey Pox which is available on the web from
the main Supercourse website.
As of today, the lecture has been translated into 8 languages (Span-
ish, Arabic, Korean, Russian, Italian, Chinese, Japanese, and Portu-
guese) and several other languages will be coming up soon. We would
like to congratulate all translators for doing such a superb job.
Please, contact us if you would be interested in translating the lec-
ture into your native language. Translation does not take long, but
it can have a major impact on prevention teaching in your country.
We would like to express our sincere appreciation to the following
Supercourse members who helped with the golden lecture translation
and all others who assisted them: Eugene Shubnikov, EunRyoung Sa,
Beatriz Rico Verdin, Efraim Meneses, Marcio Estrada, Rania Saad, Ma-
nal Koura, Akram Abdalla, Leticia Marín-León, Luis Gerk de Azevedo
Quadros, Orlando Barrionue, Pierpaolo Mastroiacovo, Daniele Agostini,
Akira Sekikawa, and Weiting Xie.
Congratulations to all of you from
Ron, Faina, Mita, Eugene, Abed, Soni, Beatriz, Marcio, Julia,
Charles, Akram, Daniele, Tomoko, Wendy, Akira, Chandra, EunRyoung,
Fred, Manal, Hiko
