World's First Edutainment Resource Centre (4)
---------------------------------------------

Dear Manish and All,

Hello and how fantastic to hear from you! I am delighted to read
about your project, and do believe there are many sources you can
draw upon. I have been organizing an international arts coalition
composed of groups and individuals who use the arts to address
HIV/AIDS, and there are some of our members -- a filmmaker named Ram-
chandra and a women's organization named Blossom Trust (who both ad-
dress HIV/AIDS) in India, as well as Nigeria, the US, and elsewhere--
I can cc on this in the hopes that they will want to speak with you.

In addition will tell you to check out Vuleka Productions of S. Af-
rica (I will send you some info about them), which has for some years
been producing and distributing HIV/AIDS educational videos, radio
scripts, TV shows, and films. They are now associated with and lo-
cated at the Univ. of Natal at Durban, I believe, and I have two
email addresses for them (I am not sure if one or both are still ac-
curate).

I would love to hear more about your ideas and work with you on this,
and in particular get you networked with our members and other con-
tacts I have found in my travels (I will post to our listserv on this
and send a general note to others). There is an American named Louise
Bourgault who has recently written a book on use of the arts to ad-
dress HIV/AIDS (focusing on Mali and South Africa in particular), and
she has a video out on this subject now, so will send you info on
that too (and interestingly I believe she must know the folks at, or
know people who know folks at Vuleka).

I will cc Mable Bolele of WHO in Botswana and Dr. Kunle Adebanwo of
Nigeria, who have also written about this, and will tell Dr. Adebanwo
in particular that there is a Nigerian organization called the
HIV/AIDS Media Network (member of the ActALIVE arts coalition) which
he might want to contact (and Manish too). The person to contact is
Wika Gofwen, Project Director, at <wigooff@yahoo.com>, and I will cc
this note as well. Also, I will forward your last note (and apologies
for the delay!) about Music Therapy International, Dr. Adebanwo, and
am wondering if you would like to join our coalition, or at least get
info about same? You may contact David Akombo, President of MTI, at
<MTI@mtimusictherapy.com>, and David, the good doctor (who wrote ex-
pressing interest in your work, and to be kept informed) is at
<mansionhealth2002@yahoo.com>.

Greatest thanks for your interest! Manish, I have also read recently
about a meeting in India at which 100 Indian and Nepali journalists,
artists, and performers met to work out common HIV/AIDS strategies,
and I imagine some of those might (we hope!) have to do with use of
the arts. Please see http://www.undp.org.in/NEWS/press260.htm (this
is from a posting of the AIDS Channel of OneWorld).

I will close on that note and look forward to hearing from you, and
will send that other material now as well. With many thanks and all
best wishes, and yours in dramatic dreamings,

Janet Feldman
