The Futures Group is a management, marketing, research, and strategic
planning organization that helps clients make well-informed decisions
in the presence of future uncertainty. Since its founding in 1971, the
Futures Group has worked in more than 60 developing countries to build
local capacity to design and implement effective strategies to address
critical development issues. We have earned a reputation as a global
leader in public health and social concerns, including population, fam-
ily planning, reproductive health, HIV/AIDS and sexually transmitted
infections, safe motherhood, poverty alleviation, education, and the
environment.
Positions vacant:
Deputy Director for HIV/AIDS (DD)
To design, manage, direct and supervise all HIV/AIDS program activities
in developing countries, with a focus in continental Africa, Asia, and
Latin America under the Policy Project. The Policy Project is a USAID
funded project to assist national and local governments and civil soci-
ety to improve policy responses to HIV/AIDS epidemics in developing
countries to nurture prevention and care initiatives. The DD supports
and builds the technical capacity of Policy project s 200+ local pro-
fessional staff to:
1) Promote human rights and decrease stigma and discrimination against
those affected by HIV/AIDS;
2) Advocate for the full participation of PLWAs in policy dialogue; and
3) Develop multi-sectoral policies and plans to address HIV/AIDS. The
DD also promotes international HIV/AIDS declarations, treaties & guid-
ing principles according to USAID foreign policy objectives.
Qualifications:
8-10 yrs exp. min. in technical design, leadership, & mgt of HIV/AIDS
policy & advocacy programs in developing countries, demonstrated work-
ing exp. with key target groups of USAID such as national, local gov-
ernmental & civil society organizations and international organizations
and leaders, demonstrated record of publishing in the popular media &
appearances in public forums including television. Must be available
for international travel about 20% - 40% time.

HIV/AIDS Advocacy Advisor
Will have the primary responsibilities of designing, implementing and
monitoring policy advocacy activities; participating in country needs
assessment; and providing technical assistance and conducting training
to form, expand, and strengthen NGO networks or coalitions to partici-
pate in HIV/AIDS advocacy for the POLICY project.
Qualified individuals should have a strong background working with
HIV/AIDS and should be experienced development professionals with an
understanding of and experience with policy processes in developing
countries. Other qualities sought include: Appropriate advanced degree
in social sciences. Strong training, facilitation and communication
skills to work effectively with both public and private sectors, in-
cluding the NGO community, to help build a participatory policy proc-
ess; familiarity with participatory methodologies and tools; and gen-
eral knowledge of family planning and reproductive health, gender, and
women's issues. Must be able to work effectively in a team setting and
travel overseas as needed (approx. 30% - 40%). Fluency in foreign lan-
guage will be a strong asset.

Program Manager
Will provide technical, management and administrative backstop support
to projects within the Futures Group, including the Healthy Russia 2020
(HR 2020) project and the Uganda Human and Holistic Development
(UPHOLD) project. The Healthy Russia 2020 project aims to create a coa-
lition of Russian health stakeholders to further Russia's goals in im-
proving women's and infant's health, mitigating the HIV/AIDS/STI and TB
epidemics, and promoting healthy lifestyles. The Uganda Program for Hu-
man and Holistic Development (UPHOLD) is an integrated social services
program designed to increase the utilization, quality, support and sus-
tainability of services in Education, Health and HIV/AIDS through an
integrated approach.
Qualifications:
Min. five yrs. of exp. in managing healthcare programs, preferably in
the private sector, in the developing world; exp. in one or more of the
following technical areas: advocacy and social/community mobilization,
evidence-based medicine, healthcare networks, healthcare financing, re-
search, or monitoring and evaluation; Masters or BS in public health,
communications, or social sciences; understanding of health, social,
and economic development is essential; experience working with int l
donors a plus; fluency in the Russian and English languages, including
oral and written skills required. Excellent interpersonal, facilita-
tion, admin., management and diplomacy skills are necessary. Computer
competency in Microsoft PC software is required.
