The brain drain (13)
--------------------
Dear All,
The brain drain may seem a difficult problem to solve for our govern-
ments as they cannot legally or physically prevent those willing to
"brain drain".
To mitigate the effect of the brain drain, I suggest the developed
countries have a big role to play. There are numerous unemployed doc-
tors in some European countries and Latin America. Such doctors can
be mobilised to serve a number of years in developing countries with
their salaries and social securities guaranteed. In fact Cuba has
shown the way and the North can support the South to recruit these
doctors to achieve a better balance. The situation is too serious to
be ignored.
