In this age of HIV/AIDS drum beat, it is so easy to forget that Do-
mestic violence, Abuse of women, Women dis-enfranchisement, Gender 
inequality, Health, education, social, legal, human rights, politi-
cal, economic and other gender disparities in Africa are significant 
development issues deserving of serious policy attention too. 
 
This is objective behind the dissemination of the Zimbabwe study on 
wife-beating. Almost everyone knows that wife-beating is pervasive 
and not new in Africa as well as world-wide. But how many are working 
assiduously to place this issue on the front burner of policy agenda 
in Africa as we all seem to do with HIV/AIDS?
