US Embassy gives N 20m grants to 10 Nigerian varsities

ABUJA The American Embassy yesterday approved N 20.18 million as
grants from the University Innovation Fund to support innovative ac-
tivities in 10 Nigerian universities. The Executive Secretary of Na-
tional University Commission (NUC) Professor Peter Okebukola said in
Abuja that the University Innovation Fund (UIF) supports significant
innovations in the areas of administrative, curriculum, and depart-
mental reforms in Nigerian Universities.
The universities that benefited include:
* University of Calabar N 2,500,000.00
* Federal University of Technology, Akure N 2,204,000.00
* Benson Idahosa University N 1,595,000.00
* Federal University of Technology, Yola N 2,500,000.00
* University of Benin-Faculty of Pharmacy N 2,146,500.00
* Usman Danfodiyo University, Sokoto N 1,790,000.00
* University of Benin-Faculty of Arts History N 2,225,250.00)
* University of Lagos-College of Medicine N 980,000.00
* Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife N 1,902,000.00
* Federal University of Technology, Owerri N 2,343,600.00
Total: N 20,186,350.00
