Call for Case Studies: Globalization Gender & Health project
------------------------------------------------------------
The Centre for Research in Women's Health (CRWH), in partnership
with the Canadian Institutes of Health Research -- Institute of
Gender and Health, Fogarty International Centre and the Office of
Research on Women's Health at the National Institutes of Health,
is pleased to announce a call for case studies.
The Globalization Gender & Health project partners are currently
drafting a discussion paper on behalf of the Canadian Institutes
of Health Research--Institute of Gender and Health. The publica-
tion discusses the findings from a critical synthesis of a broad
range of literature on globalization gender and health and also
incorporates insights from diverse groups of professionals,
scholars, activists and policy-makers worldwide. The purpose of
this initiative is to formulate a global research-and-training
agenda for the impact of globalization on gender and health. You
can view the latest version of this paper at:
http://www.crwh.org/publications.php or by contacting us in writ-
ing, or by fax or email at the address provided below.
At this time, we are pleased to invite colleagues to submit rele-
vant case studies from different countries and regions (particu-
larly developing or low income countries) that highlight the
positive and/or negative differential impact the current wave of
globalization has had on the health of women/girls and men/boys
as outlined in the report. Recommended guidelines for submissions
are attached. The inclusion of case studies will bring added
value to the paper by illuminating the complexity and country-
specific challenges and opportunities associated with the current
wave of globalization, and by putting a human face to the issues,
statistics, and strategies discussed in the paper.
The global health agenda is in its formative stages, how we de-
fined global health today will serve as a template for genera-
tions to come. The 'Globalization, Gender & Health: Research-
Policy Interface" initiative marks a wonderful opportunity to in-
fluence this global agenda and ensure that gender occupies a
prominent place within it.
Please forward case studies or make further inquiries:
