Africa's political leaders facilitate brain drain... (4)
--------------------------------------------------------

No matter the explanation the President of Uganda may give for
letting his presidential plane to take his daughter and daughter-
in-law abroad for obstetric services, the message remains that
deep down Africans still look on their institutions as being in-
ferior. At times it takes much courage for African doctors to
continuously stay there when they don't get enough money and
worse even the respect they are due. More so when the outside
world can at least offer better!

The money spent in this abroad trip could have been better util-
ised to equip some Ugandan hospitals for the Doctors (many of
whom are even better qualified than the doctors who took care of
the president's family) to function better. Anyway, I hope Mr.
President has kept a super sonic jet aside that will take less
than 30 minutes to get abroad in case of one of those dire emer-
gencies where one hour delay can be catastrophic.
