Health is important.... but on its own not sustainable development
------------------------------------------------------------------
Dear Colleagues
I think health is important, but it is only part of life. Qual-
ity of life is about everything that goes to make up society.
And development does not seem to be sustainable. I think the
following summarizes quite well why development is not sustain-
able. One of the best resourced information initiatives going on
at the moment has a focus on the following:
Health - http://www.comminit.com/healthcomm/
South Asia -http://www.comminit.com/south-asia/
Girls -http://www.comminit.com/girls/
Radio -http://www.comminit.com/radio/
Children -http://www.comminit.com/children/
Environment -http://www.comminit.com/environment/
Child Protection -http://www.comminit.com/child-protection/
HIV/AIDS -http://www.comminit.com/hivaids/
Adolescents -http://www.comminit.com/adolescents/
Immunisations & Vaccines- http://www.comminit.com/immunisation/
Integrated Early ChildhoodDevelopment - http://www.comminit.com/iecd/
And that is good........ BUT
THERE IS NOTHING THAT IS GENERATING ECONOMIC VALUE ADDING.....
NOTHING ABOUT JOBS
....... ABOUT FOOD
....... ABOUT PRODUCTION
....... ABOUT BUSINESS
....... ABOUT LOCALLY PRODUCED PROFIT
....... ABOUT FINANCE
Without working on economic value adding and profit and jobs,
the only place that resources can come from is development wel-
fare...... and that is never going to work.
Sincerely,
Peter Burgess
