NGO Collaboration Targets Isolated Nomads in Kenya
--------------------------------------------------
Population Services International (PSI) has teamed up with the
Kenyan Red Cross to bring health products, including insecticide-
treated mosquito nets (ITNs) and condoms, to the nomads of the
Northern Frontier. Theirs is a world of extreme climates, alter-
nating between flood and drought, where herding camels is the
sole source of sustenance. In this remote world of highland sa-
vannahs, filled with wildlife and semi-arid deserts, the tribes
are detached from regular commerce and the benefits of health
products. Through Red Cross shipments, PSI's branded condoms and
ITNs are now made available to, and are improving the health of,
isolated nomads in the Northern Frontier.
