Positions for GTZ International Services Project in Kenya

GTZ International Services (IS) East Africa was subcontracted by
UNHCR to take over the health and nutrition services for three
refugee camps in northern Kenya. GTZ IS caters for approximately
135,000 mainly Somali refugees living in the camps and the host
communities surrounding the camps. The health services structure
consists of one hospital per camp with three attached health
posts, respectively and special programmes (TB, Mental Health,
HIV/AIDS, Nutrition).
GTZ International Services is now looking for medical and other
experts to support the project on a long-term basis (1-3 years).
The project location is a non-family duty station with hardship
conditions. Good diplomacy skills and high sensitivity to the
particularities of difficult cultural environments are required
for all positions.
Closing date for all applications: 30 November 2003
1. Project Coordinator:
Management of the project on administrative and financial lev-
els, including management of staff (medical staff in coordina-
tion with medical coordinator), project planning, budgeting,
monitoring& evaluation, procurement, liaising with the donor
etc.
Requirements:
* Diploma or other University Degree in Business Management
* a minimum of 10 years of working experience, preferably in Af-
rica
* Proven experience in project management and evaluation, logis-
tics and procurement coordination and planning, monitoring and
reporting
* Experience with emergency and relief programmes as well as
medical projects is an asset
* Fluent written and spoken English
2. Medical Coordinator:
Management of the medical staff, including human resources man-
agement, coordination of special programmes, institutional ca-
pacity building, participatory workshops, job assignments, work
plans, etc.
Requirements:
* Medical Doctor
* A minimum of 10 years of working experience, preferably in Af-
rica
* Experience with project management and capacity-building
* Experience in refugee camps is an asset
* Fluent written and spoken English.
3. Nutritionist:
Co-ordination of all nutrition related activities, including co-
ordination of therapeutic and supplementary feeding centers and
special feeding programs, e.g. for pregnant and lactating woman,
TB patients and social cases. Supervision and training of staff,
monitoring and evaluation.
Requirements:
* Qualified nutritionist
* A minimum of 3 years of professional experience, preferably in
Africa
* Experience with emergency or development aid settings, pref-
erably in refugee camps
* Good teamwork and management capacities
* Fluent written and spoken English.
